As an ultralight backpacker I scrutinize every item in my pack. Since my hike on the Appalachian Trail, I have learned a lot about my particular hiking style and I have been working on lightening my baseweight (the total weight of non-consumable items a hiker carries). A lower base weight allows me to hike faster and more comfortably. Many hikers strive for a base weight around 15lbs but after hiking the AT with a 11lb base weight, I am striving for a base weight between 5 and 6 pounds. Here is the most up to date list of what I will be toting with me on the PCT: http://www.geargrams.com/list?id=5123
Thanks for sharing the link to geargrams.com. What a great app! Hope to see you on the PCT- Watertank
