Strangely enough I found myself waking up in a bed this morning. After feeling slightly like the guy from "Memento" I recalled the events I last evening and quickly remembered where I was. Jeff made me a huge cup of oatmeal, poured me a cup of coffee and loaded me up with a banana and an avocado for the road. He dropped me off at Scissors Crossing and by 7am I was heading back toward canada. After scissors, there is a long stretch of trail where no natural water occurs. Therefore, I was hauling nearly 9lbs (4.4kg or 4liters) of water for the next 25 miles. After a hot 15 mile slog and the sight of my first rattle snake, I walked toward the Third Gate water cache. Some lovely trail angels haul around 100 gallons of water up to this point so that hikers don't have to. Much love to them for what they do. Following a solid 2.5 hour siesta with FallRisk, Honeybear and Adriana, I set off towards Barrel spring. Not only is barrel spring a lovely place to camp but I was rewarded with an ice cold beer upon arrival in celebration of completing the first 100 miles of trail.
