83 Days

My April 26th start date is nearing and I am beginning to feel the pressure of planning for this 5 month adventure. I have purchased about 95% of the gear and clothing I plan on using but the transportation, maildrop, and itinerary aspects have yet to be finalized. Recently, I finished reading Yogi's PCT Guidebook, which is stuffed with useful information on virtually every aspect of the PCT. Somehow I still feel unprepared. Fortunately, more than two months remain before I will take my first steps toward Canada, leaving ample time to read, research, organize and prepare. With all of this talk of organization and planning, I also feel the need to remind myself that being spontaneous and flexible are also admirable qualities. Some of the best memories I have from my travels in Europe and the on Appalachian trail were the result of a last-minute idea or spur of the moment decision. As with most other things, I suppose balance is the best approach.
"When you come to a fork in the road, take it." - Yogi Berra
"The trail is the thing, not the end of the trail. Travel too fast and you miss all that you are traveling for." -Louis L'Amour
